Moving on from beginners lessons the next step in the learning to swim pathway are our Gosling A, Gosling B and Cygnets lessons. In these classes children further develop and fine tune the four swimming strokes and gain deep water confidence. Our focus is further development of frontcrawl breathing technique, continue development of backstroke, and the introduction and development of  breaststroke and butterfly and for the Cygnets groups the introduction of diving.

At the end of our improver's programme children will be able to swim or have a good understanding of  all four strokes, dive, and have an understanding of  basic turns.

Swimmers for Gosling A and B groups should be able to swim a minimum of 10m on both front and back and have a basic understanding of at least one other stroke for Gosling B groups. For Cygnet groups swimmers should be water confident as tuition will in the main be from the poolside although teaching assistants are used to aid the lead teacher.
