Beginners Lessons are suitable from 3.5 years plus. (Children aged 3.5 years are subject to a trial lesson to ensure their safety).
Beginner swimming lessons at Hydroschool are taught by Swim England, STA qualified and DBS checked swimming instructors with a qualified background in swimming and teaching of swimming. Each of our beginners teachers have a great wealth of experience and are specifically used by hydroschool for this reason.
Beginners lessons follow Swim England Stage 1 and 2 to develop water confidence, and initial swimming unaided both front and back. Our teachers use fun but structured lessons to encourage younger swimmers to develop the skills need to be able to swim unaided and move forward to Stage 2 and 3.
Hydroschool understands that class size relates to the speed in which beginners learn to swim. Children need to spend as much time practicing as possible. To make sure children get the most from beginners lessons we (normally) operate a ratio of 5 swimmers to one teacher often with the support of a teaching assistant in the water as well. In this way our swimmers do not spend lots of time sat not learning and all get as much swim time as possible.
We also recognise that you the parent want to be involved with your swimmers journey and will have lots of questions about progression, what they are learning, how they are doing. To help you the parents we have Lesson Coordinators at every lesson who are poolside and there to help and answer your questions as they arise so you are kept fully up to date.
If you have any specific questions please drop us a line via the contact us page. We would love to hear from you.Our current lesson programme for beginners and early swimmers can be seen here
